Of celebrating another year of life with the most wonderful human being I've ever known.
Through the years, I have had the good fortune of living and understanding friendship. I've known a couple friendships in my life that truly forge character and shape who you might be/become. These relationships are extremely rare and extremely selfless. These people would take the sickness from your heart/mind/body/soul and put it in their own just to give you some relief. This friendship, without ever even trying, epitomizes courage. These people would go broke before ever not sharing with you. In the minds of the people in these relationships, they would not be the same without you and they wouldn't.
Additionally, I have a small handful of "good" friends. These are the relationships with people that can bring a smile to your face, make you feel good when you're feeling bad, and maybe even listen to some of your bad times and offer up their own words of advice and/or encouragement. They may even make the occasional trip to see you now and then. These relationships are not quite as selfless but they do not need to be. They have their place and its fine as it is. This friendship can come and go, here and there. While the partner may feel some grief, they can rapidly move on to their next place in time.
Beyond this, you have the fun friends. The people that you love to party with. Life is grand with these folks in very little installments. You may facebook and provide a kind word but will never emotionally invest. I have me a spattering of these folks. It's almost always a joy. I never get the chance, nor do I want to, show who I really am. It's not why I'm there. I'm fulfilling my part of a play. It is PURELY selfish and that's OK.
Well, I bring this up because I have spent a good portion of my life weaving in and out of these relationships. I have had a good life with some quality individuals in it. Some are still in my life today but absolutely nothing comes remotely close to what I have in the relationship with my ever adoring wife. She culminates the better essence of all aforementioned relationships I have tried to explain here.
Because I could not put into words, my relationship with my wife, I write this. She is the full reason I am who I am today. She is the dream I'm living. I've built my life around her and in return she has given me mine. I am forever debted to God and this woman.
God bless you, KC.
Happy Birthday
