The Bubbling Cauldron

It was a very mixed day. To cut a long story short my dad tried to kill himself 8 days before the wedding, bought a Stanley Knife and went to an abandoned railway line. He was very lucky to be found alive. But that meant my dad couldn't come. My mum didn't want to leave my dad for a whole weekend so a friend of mine (my ex actually, Dan's dad) said he would drive her over for the wedding. Well he got stuck in traffic and his clutch went. By the time the RAC van got to them it was about the time I was walking down the aisle!!!

Anyway, we still managed to have a good day. I cried. I thought I would anyway but I'd been crying earlier once I realised my mum wouldn't be there and I was so emotional anyway. My boy Dan gave me away. That second photo is when he was asked who gives this womans hand in marriage and he pointed his thumb at himself and said "me do"!!!

It was a fairly small do but it was really nice.

My dad is a whole lot better now. Phsically its taken some time, he did a right job on himself. He cut through some tendons and muscles in his wrists so has had plastic surgery but has still lost a fair bit of feeling in his hands. He also cut through this achilies tendon in his ankle so he was in a cast for 6 weeks. But he has his cast off and is walking around. The mental health team still visit to make sure all is ok psychologically. He is going to Egypt with mum for a couple of weeks in August and I think it will do him the world of good.

Firecracker, is there anywhere you can recommend for wedding dresses in non white/ivory/cream dresses like yours?

AM I bought mine online from China! I saw the dress on Ebay and loved the style but it was in white. I contacted them and asked if they could do other colours and they said no problem. I only paid £100 for it, including delivery!

I was worried what it would be like and if it would fit (I got my mum to measure me and emailed them though) but I was really happy with it. It was really good quality satin, really heavy with excellent stitching. The only problem that it was a bit screwed up by the time it got here but nothing that an iron, tea towel and a spare hour to iron it didn't sort out lol.
